DENVER – Denver International Airport had a great 2016.

November marked the airport’s 15th consecutive month of record passenger traffic.

The airport had a total of 4,695,897 inbound and outbound passengers in November, an increase of 311,952 people – or 7.1 percent – over Nov. 2015.

Year-to-date passenger numbers also were up in November. The airport reported a total of 53,441,291 passengers between January and November. That’s an increase of 8.1 percent over 2015’s numbers.

DIA officials estimated the airport surpassed 55 million total passengers for the first time on Sunday, Dec. 11.

As the airport continues to grow, it’s also expanding its offerings.

Beginning March 11, Southwest Airlines will offer nonstop service from Denver to Belize City, Belize.

To celebrate the new offering, the Belize Tourism Board is organizing a sweepstakes to give one lucky Denver-area resident free roundtrip airfare for two to Belize. To enter the sweepstakes, follow the BTB on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and post a photo, video or text explaining why you want to visit Belize, using the hashtag #DenverToBelize.

The sweepstakes runs from Jan. 11 to Jan. 18. A winner will be chosen at random on Jan. 25.
