BENNETT, Colo. – An Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputy involved in a crash with another vehicle on Interstate 70 managed to pull the other driver from a burning car, the Colorado State Patrol said.
The 25-year-old deputy, identified as Jeremy Selvidge, and the second driver, identified as Andrew Benoit, were involved in a crash around 6 a.m. Tuesday on I-70 near Bennett.
Troopers say the deputy's car was struck, causing the second car to catch fire. Deputy Selvidge suffered cuts but was able to pull Benoit out of the burning car and direct traffic around the accident. Benoit suffered minor injuries. Both were taken to a local hospital.

Details surrounding the crash are not known. Aerial footage from Airtracker7 showed the charred vehicle in the median with heavy front-end damage. The deputy's vehicle had rear-end damage.
Both parties were cited. Deputy Selvidge was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way, and Benoit was given a ticket for driving on suspension and no proof of insurance.
The accident shut down the highway in the area, snarling traffic for miles. Troopers later reopened at least one lane of traffic in both directions.
