DENVER — Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock were among several who attended a vigil at Temple Emanuel to honor the 11 people killed at a Pittsburgh synagogue Saturday.

The vigil began at 5 p.m. Sunday and was held at the state's largest and oldest synagogue, located at 51 Grape Street in Denver.

Hickenlooper tweeted Saturday: "We must able to live in peace and to worship in total freedom, without fear of discrimination or violence. "Our hearts are with the people of Pittsburgh."

Eight men and three women were killed by the suspected gunman, Robert Bowers, who told police he wanted to "kill Jews." The FBI said Bowers was armed with an AR-15 rifle and three handguns.

Bowers faces federal and state charges. He's due in court Monday.
