MIAMI, Fla. – Police in Miami are looking for a taxi driver who beat and robbed a Denver tourist over the weekend.
Police say the 29-year-old Denver man was visiting a Miami club when he got into a cab around 3:30 a.m. Sunday. After arriving at his destination, the taxi driver became irate and began to chase after the victim, a police report said.
According to police, the taxi driver caught up to the victim, tackled him, placed him in a chokehold and beat him repeatedly. Police say the victim paid the $70 cab fare.
Police say the taxi driver took off with $800 cash from the victim’s wallet.
During the attack, the victim sustained abrasions to his face. He was treated at the scene.
