DENVER – Denver police issued a warning Thursday about scammers posing as kidnappers who are calling parents in the Denver area and asking for a ransom.
Officers said they’d received multiple reports from parents in southwestern Denver in the past several days.
In each case, the parents received a phone call from someone demanding that money be wired to a bank in exchange for the return of the parent’s child.
Police responded to each case and found none of the children to be abducted or harmed.
Police said that anyone who receives such a call should ignore the demands and report the call to the police department immediately.
