DENVER — Police have a suspect in the stabbing death of a mother and they believe he is homeless.
Jeanna Leslie's body was found inside her downtown loft on Valentine's Day. The mother of four had recently moved to Denver to be near her two youngest children.
Terry Lane Dunford II, 40, is wanted in connection with the killing. It happened in the 1500 block of Stout Street inside Leslie's apartment at the Rio Grande Lofts.
"She wanted people to share her excitement for life. I loved her quirkiness," said Brittany Leslie, Jeanna's daughter.
Her daughter said Leslie was full of joy and danced through life. She spent six months traveling through Europe before moving to Denver. Leslie used her passion for life and learning to work with students as an English teacher.
"I’m really proud to have her as a mom and I’m really proud of the impact that she’s made," her daughter said.
The family became alarmed when Leslie didn't show up to take her kids to a basketball game. Police were called to Leslie’s apartment on a welfare check when her body was discovered. An autopsy revealed she had been stabbed multiple times the day before her body was found.
"I just really hope that someone can find him... because this kind of person should not just be walking around," said Brittany.
Dunford is described as a 6-feet tall, 185 pound white male with brown hair and eyes. Please call 911 or Crime Stoppers, at 720-913-STOP(7867) or text: DMCS plus your message to 274637, if you know his whereabouts or have information about this case.
