Denver Police are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting near West 14th Avenue and Bannock street.
Police say the man who was shot was wanted for an armed bank robbery. Chief Robert White said the robbery did not occur today.
"The Safe Streets Task Force, made up of local and federal officers, were following the individual," White said. "He stopped here and they attempted to arrest him."
Late Tuesday afternoon, investigators placed at least three evidence markers on the ground next to an SUV at the scene.
White would not say whether the suspect fired shots at the officers.

Police haven't released the names of the suspect or officer involved.
Protesters, who showed up within minutes of the shooting and began yelling at police, identified the suspect as Dion Avila. A woman who claimed to be his wife told bystanders that Avila was not armed.
Early Tuesday evening, someone placed flowers and a sign which said, "Rest in power Dion," on a light post where the shooting occurred.
