DENVER – Police said Friday they had correctly identified the suspect in last week’s shooting at the Denver Tech Center after they wrongly identified him on Thursday, saying the man “had gone to great lengths” to assume someone else’s identity.

Denver police said Friday that 34-year-old Mark Anthony Howard is the suspect in the Feb. 19 homicide and triple shooting that happened at an apartment in the 7500 block of Technology Way and that he was still outstanding.

On Thursday, the department identified him by a different name and used a different picture than the ones distributed Friday. But Howard is described as a 6-foot-6 and 212-pound black male, while the other man was described as a 5-foot-7 and 145-pound black male.

Denver7 is not using the name previously released by police because they said in a tweet the person with that name “IS NOT connected to this crime.”

The Denver Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim who died in the shooting earlier this week as 26-year-old Marquis Johnson and said he was shot multiple times.

Denver police and Crime Stoppers said Howard is wanted on a first-degree murder charge in connection with Johnson’s death. Two other people were shot and taken to area hospitals.

Police said Friday that a second person, 24-year-old Roxanne Rodriguez-Hernandez, is also suspected in connected to the murder and remains at large.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
