DENVER – Police announced Monday they had canceled a Medina Alert for a Dodge Ram that had been sought in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash that happened Sunday evening and arrested a 26-year-old suspect.

Denver police said Jesus Molina Gamboa, 26, was being held Monday for investigation on vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, leaving the scene of a crash involving death and leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury charges in connection with the crash that happened Sunday evening at the intersection of E. 46th Ave. and N. Chambers Road.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. Sunday. One person died in the crash, and police said a 2014 silver Dodge Ram pickup with Colorado plates QID-538 were being sought with the Medina Alert.

According to a probable cause statement for his arrest, Gamboa was driving “recklessly” southbound on Chambers and hit a car in front of him. That car was pushed into the northbound lanes, where it was hit by an oncoming car.

The victim in the first crash died at the scene, and the driver that was headed northbound suffered a broken arm and was taken to Denver Health.

The probable cause statement said Halo cameras and witnesses led officers to Gamboa at a home on N. Helena St. He was taken into custody, transported to an area hospital for evaluation, and medically cleared to be transported to the Denver jail.

Police said Monday a booking photo for Gamboa was not available Monday.
