DENVER -- Denver's mayor is promising to keep the Mile High City safe and welcoming.

Michael Hancock responded Tuesday after post-election protests last week.

Hancock promised to support women, minorities, and the LGBTQ community.

In the YouTube video below, he also promised to fight to keep immigrant families together.

The mayor also echoed the Denver Police, vowing he will not participate in President-Elect Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement efforts.

Mayor Hancock sent the following statement to Denver7 Tuesday evening:

“Denver is a welcoming and inclusive city where all people are valued. We would not be who we are today without the talents, successes and hard work of our diverse population. We have and always will continue to comply with federal immigration laws, but what Denver will never support unlawful detention.”
