DENVER – Mmm…. Flying doughnuts! Is something Homer Simpson might say if he was able to take part in a unique event in Denver Wednesday.

LaMar’s Donuts will be delivering several of the fried doughy goodness by drone to Denver Mayor Michael Hancock and the city’s first responders.

The drone will first deliver the doughnuts to the mayor at the entrance of the City and County building at 8:15 a.m. Then, it’s off to police headquarters, where there’s no doubt the morning treats will be greatly appreciated.

The drone will then deliver doughnuts to Denver firefighters before landing on the 16th Street Mall sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

The Denver-based chain said they currently don’t offer drone delivery outside of Wednesday’s event, but they are seriously looking into the technology.

“At the moment, this is not available for everyday use, but we are looking at how to incorporate this into our options,” said LaMar’s spokesperson Temi Osifodunrin.

Wednesday’s stunt is part National Doughnut Day, which is this Friday. LaMar’s said they will also be giving away prizes as part of the celebration.
