DENVER – A 24-year-old man who pleaded guilty in July to murdering a man in July 2016 then lighting the man’s body on fire was sentenced late last week to 30 years in prison.

Delshon Giles, 24, pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder in July for the murder of 39-year-old Walter Bracken.

According to police and prosecutors, Giles killed Bracken during an argument on July 23, 2016, then left his burning body on the side of the road the next morning. Several days later he set fire to the home in which the murder occurred.

Giles fled to Los Angeles after the murder but he was arrested in September 2016 and extradited back to Denver.
