DENVER — After nearly three years, the mystery surrounding the death of a 44-year-old Denver woman may be getting closer to a resolution.
The victim’s husband was formally charged Friday in connection with the death of Stacy Feldman, whose lifeless body was found in the couple’s home in 2015.
Robert Feldman, 53, was charged with one count of murder in the first degree following his arrest on Tuesday.
The suspect told investigators that in the early afternoon of March 1, 2015, he found his wife unresponsive in the bathtub with the showerhead on inside their home, located in the 3600 block of South Pontiac Way.
The medical examiner was unable to determine the cause and manner of death and no charges were filed in the case until Friday. It’s not clear what prompted Tuesday’s arrest. The affidavit has been sealed.
While no official cause of the death was determined, an autopsy report obtained by Denver7 includes more details.
According to the report, the medical examiner found abrasions and contusions on the victim’s face and other injuries consistent with blunt force trauma, which the report notes could have been caused by resuscitative efforts or the movement of her body from the bathtub.
A further review, according to the autopsy report, revealed that Stacy Feldman sought treatment for recurring bouts of fevers, coughing, headaches and swollen lymph nodes about two months prior to her death. But she was given no diagnoses as to what could have been causing her symptoms.
Robert Feldman is being held without bond in Denver city jail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday for an advisement hearing.
