DENVER – The Mile High City is likely to see its first snow of the season Thursday night into Friday morning, and the mountains will see their first significant accumulations as well.
Denver7 Chief Meteorologist Mike Nelson says he expects Denver to receive an inch or two of snow starting Thursday evening, though it is unlikely to stick around for long because of warm ground temperatures.

Ski resorts, however, will be rejoicing by Friday afternoon, as the mountains are expected to receive between 5 and 10 inches of the white stuff between Thursday afternoon and Friday afternoon.

Several of Colorado’s resorts have been forced to push back their opening days because of the lack of snow and warm temperatures.
Eldora said Tuesday it is pushing back its opening day, which was originally scheduled for Friday. The resort said it would make another decision on opening day soon. But Breckenridge said Tuesday it will open this Saturday, Nov. 19.
Nearly all of Colorado is experiencing abnormally dry conditions, and Tuesday marked the 34th straight day without measurable precipitation in Denver.
The record in Denver for the latest snowfall is Nov. 21, so with any accumulating snow later this week, Denver will steer clear of the record.
