DENVER – The Denver Housing Authority on Friday celebrated the completion of a $197 million residential redevelopment project in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.
The Mariposa District, a new mixed-use, mixed-income development at 10th and Osage streets, replaced the aging South Lincoln Homes, which were built in the 1950s.
Construction of the development took place in eight phases and created nearly 600 new residential units, with a mix of market-rate and affordable homes.
Officials say the Mariposa District is an example of “community-driven design,” since developers and residents worked together to come up with the master plan.
"Mariposa is, in many ways, a model community in Denver,” said DHA Executive Director Ismael Guerrero. “We are proud to have accomplished a major neighborhood transformation that was informed by residents and neighbors; that replaced all the original subsidized units and created new affordable housing; and resulted in an economically and socially diverse neighborhood focused on health, opportunity, and inclusiveness.”
The Denver Housing Authority currently manages more than 12,000 residential units throughout the city.
