Denver councilman pushing City of Denver to buy shuttered strip club on East Colfax

DENVER — The City of Denver could soon own a strip club, at least the building in which a former Denver strip club operated.

Councilman Chris Herndon said the city is on the verge of buying a parcel of land that includes PT's All Nude II, a strip club that operated on East Colfax for years. For some months, the club hasn't been open and Herndon sees an opportunity to bring new business and a community atmosphere to the area.

The City of Denver signed a letter of understanding with the owner of the property, located on 8315 E. Colfax Ave., and an ordinance has been filed. Soon, the whole council will have the opportunity to vote on the purchase.

Herndon's office told Denver7 they see little reason for the council to oppose the purchase, which they see as a move to support the community.

"It's going to be something," Herndon said in a neighborhood association meeting, which was first reported upon by Denverite

The neighborhood as a whole, according to Herndon, feels the strip club contributes to a negative perception of the stretch of the street, leading to a loss of business.

Herndon's office said they can't put a number on the sale, noting the council has the final say over the sale.

Although it's not a done deal yet, it doesn't seem like the strip club is opening back up soon, and if Herndon gets his way, it never will.
