DENVER – The Denver all-time record-high temperature of 105 degrees, which was set in 2012 and 2005, was tied Thursday at 2:20 p.m.

That came about three hours after Denver broke the daily high record of 99 degrees, which was set in 1986.

The all-time record high of 105 was previously set four other times: on June 25 and 26, 2012, July 20, 2005 and Aug. 8, 1878.

But despite the high temperatures, there is a low risk of thunderstorms along the Front Range and northeast plains Thursday because of the hot, dry surface air.

The hot weather throughout the state has caused fire weather warnings to be issued for much of the state. The Spring Fire burning in Costilla County in south-central Colorado has already grown to more than 3,700 acres in size as of Thursday morning with 0 percent containment.
