Parking in the close-in garages and lots at Denver International Airport is about to get more expensive, as the second rate increase in less than two years takes effect Sunday.
The airport announced its new parking fees Friday afternoon as Labor Day travel was picking up. A spokesperson confirmed that travelers who parked at DIA before the changes take effect and return afterward will be charged the old rates, as long as they use the ticket they pulled upon entering.
Hourly rates are set to increase by $1 in the garages (to $5) and for short-term parking (to $6). Daily garage rates will go up by $3, to $28.
Rates in the popular $8-a-day shuttle parking lots — Pikes Peak and Mt. Elbert — won’t change, according to DIA’s news release. But the close-in economy lots and the farther-out 61st and Peña lot, which is next to an A-Line train station, will see rate increases:
- Economy parking will cost $5 per hour or $17 per day, an increase of $1 for each rate. Starting on the fourth day, the daily rate still will drop to $15.
- Prepaid parking at 61st and Peña will cost $3 per 12 hours (up $1) or $6 per 24 hours (up $2).
