A toddler shot last Saturday, apparently shot himself with his father's gun, according to the Denver District Attorney's Office.
The 3-year-old boy was shot just before noon inside the family's home in the area of West Mississippi Avenue and South Raritan Street.
Neighbors told Denver7 the boy went inside to go to the bathroom.
"Next thing you know, we heard a shot," said one neighbor.
The parents tried to take the little boy to the hospital themselves, according to investigators.
An ambulance met the family half way to take him to the hospital.
The DA said the charges allege that the boy found Tagee Robinson’s gun and accidentally shot himself.
The DA is charging Robinson with one count of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury and possession of a weapon by previous offender.
According to court records, Robinson pleaded guilty last March to a theft charge in Adams County. He's currently serving an 18-month probation.
