BOULDER, Colo. — The University of Colorado Boulder is investigating a verbal altercation between two students after a video surfaced on social media that appears to show a white female student yelling a racial slur at another student.
CU President Mark Kennedy tweeted Sunday that the university is launching an investigation into what happened.
“I understand a verbal altercation occurred at @CUBoulder between students that included racially hostile language. I support the chancellor and the Office of Institutional Equity & Compliance in immediately launching an investigation to determine what transpired,” Kennedy wrote in the tweet.”
The video appears to show the woman accusing a male student of stalking her. She is then heard calling the man videotaping the incident the N-word.
During the confrontation, a third man walks up and warns the man and woman having the conflict that he’s going to call campus police.
In Kennedy’s tweet, the CU president said:
“We will learn more in the next few days, but I want to be clear in unequivocally condemning racist and threatening behaviors. Across all of its campuses, CU must support learning and working environments that foster respect for all students, faculty and staff.”
Editor's Note: Although the video has been shared widely on social media, Denver7 has chosen not to post it due to the language used in the exchange.
