A gym in Castle Rock held a special workout Sunday to raise money for a Denver Police officer who was shot multiple times.

Officer Tony Lopez Jr., was shot Tuesday during a traffic stop near W. 37th Avenue and Federal Boulevard. Lopez was shot in an arm and both legs. A bulletproof vest protected him from shots to his torso. Since the shooting, Lopez has undergone three major surgeries.

The owner of CrossFit Loop in Castle Rock, Lee Eisenheim, says Sundays are for heroes.

"After the shock wore off, we decided we need to do something for the family," said Eisenheim. "This is what we did."

Owners held a special Hero Workout of the Day to honor Officer Lopez.

The workout was free, and the gym accepted donations for Officer Lopez. They will be deposited directly into the account set up for Lopez at Rocky Mountain Law Enforcement Federal Credit Union.
