DENVER — A crime spree in a neighborhood near Washington Park left neighbors uneasy Monday morning.
Anna Murray lives off the 700 block of South Washington Street. She’s lived in the neighborhood nearly a year with her fiancé, Kevin Garner, and never had any problems until Monday, when she discovered two windows of the garage broken.
Murray said nothing was taken; they just found a rock inside the garage and their SUV dented. It was just the beginning. During the morning walk Murray and Garner discovered several windows broken and two car windshields shattered.
Daniel Wyman’s owns one of the cars damaged. He estimates it will cost about $400 to fix the windshield. Wayman expressed frustration.
“This is completely unnecessary,” he said.
The glass door at the Wash Perk, a coffee shop just a few blocks away, was also broken. The door was covered on brown paper, but shattered glass could be seen from the inside.
Celine Levy has been visiting the beloved coffee shop for years.
“We do whatever we can to help support our local businesses, so anything like this could set them back,” she said.
The Denver Police Department is investigating the crime spree.
“It’s hurts to know that there is just one more thing that is added to people’s plates at this time,” Murray said.
