Crews search for missing paddle boarder in Chatfield Reservoir

CHATFIELD STATE PARK, Colo. -- Crews were searching the waters of Chatfield Reservoir Sunday afternoon for a missing paddle boarder.

Earlier in the day, two people people were paddle boarding when they became in distress. One of the paddle boarders was pushed to shore by the wind and was treated on scene. However, witnesses reported that the other individual went under the water and has not been found, according to South Metro Fire Rescue.

Later, South Metro Fire Rescue said the search mode was changed from a rescue to a recovery operation. Boats were conducting a sonar grid search using the last seen points from witnesses on shore.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and Colorado Parks and Wildlife are assisting in rescue efforts.
