Crews from two different fire departments were called to fight a house fire in Highlands Ranch Monday afternoon.

Firefighters with South Metro Fire Rescue and Littleton Fire Rescue responded to the home on Mountain Maple Avenue at little before 4 p.m.

Officials said the fire started on a deck in the back of the house.

There was heavy damage to the roof and the back of the home.

A neighbor told Denver7 the homeowner tried to put it out himself, but it got out of control.

Firefighters said wind whipped the flames into the back of the house and caught the house on fire. The flames spread quickly through the home.

It took almost two hours to completely extinguish the fire.

No one was hurt in the fire but four people who live in the home will have to find somewhere else to stay.

Investigators are still working to determine what started the fire.
