DENVER – A fire burned at a recycling plant in north Denver Tuesday afternoon around 12:30 p.m., sending a large plume of black smoke into the sky that could be seen across the metro area.

Denver Fire said the fire was located at a plant at 4920 Washington St. and that no injuries had been reported.

At a 1:25 p.m. news conference, a Denver Fire lieutenant said the fire was fully extinguished and that most of the flames were contained to vehicles in the yard, and not the plant's main building.

Denver Fire said the investigation into the cause of the fire was ongoing Tuesday afternoon.
