DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. – Crews have rescued a man who fell while hiking near Devil’s Head.
Douglas County deputies were called to the popular hiking area around 3 p.m. Sunday. Devil's Head is located in Pike National Forest just west of Castle Rock.
Witnesses say the hiker was on a 100 foot ridge when he fell onto a ledge about 30 feet below. The incident happened quite some ways up the trailhead, which made rescue efforts more difficult.
The extent of the man's injuries is unknown. He was transported in a medical helicopter to a local hospital.
The hiker was a part of a group of climbers scaling Devil's Head. Crews do not know what caused the man to fall.
