DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. — A major crash involving a semi closed down all northbound lanes of Interstate 25 for a multi-mile stretch south of Castle Rock Wednesday morning.

The highway reopened shortly before 8 a.m.

Authorities closed the northbound lanes of I-25 between Exit 174/Tomah Road and Exit 181/Plum Creek Parkway after a semi crashed into a cement barrier, said Trooper Josh Lewis with Colorado State Patrol. There were no injuries, but several fender benders followed the initial crash.

Drivers were asked to take Frontage Road as an alternative, CDOT said.

Both of the northbound lanes remained closed while authorities cleaned up the crash site, which was about two miles north of Tomah Road.
