Contemporary Learning Academy was briefly placed on lockdown Monday afternoon because of a report that a weapon was brought to campus.
The joint middle school and high school is located at 200 East 9th Ave., on East 9th Avenue and Sherman Street.
A student told a school resource officer that he heard one student telling another student that he brought a weapon to school, Denver Public Schools spokesman Will Jones told Denver7.
School officials locked down the school as a precaution but no weapon was found. School officials are now trying to track down the student in question and interview him about what he said.
A reporter and photographer at the scene tweeted photos and videos showing at least 5 police vehicles in front of the school.

Contemporary Learning Center is an alternative high school for students who have struggled in traditional academic settings. Its student body is largely male and minority youngsters, with the majority of students getting free or subsidized lunches.
The high school only has about 250 students with a low student-teacher ratio of about 9-to-1.
