DENVER – Driving around the metro area this weekend may get a little tricky as several road closures are in place due to events and construction.
The Denver PrideFest, the state’s largest celebration of LGBT pride, is going on this weekend at Civic Center Park downtown. The two-day event is expected to draw thousands and impact traffic around the park.
The following streets will be closed until Monday morning:
BANNOCK ST: from Colfax to 13th Avenue, beginning at 7:00 am
14TH AVENUE: from Cherokee St. to Broadway, beginning at 7:00 am
BROADWAY: from 16th Street Mall to 13th Avenue, beginning at 7:00 pm
COLFAX AVE: Westbound: from Lincoln St. to Cherokee St. beginning at 6:00 PM
COLFAX AVE, Eastbound: from Cherokee St. to Lincoln St. beginning at 6:00 PM
Closures are also affecting traffic further south. Construction on the Interstate 25 and Arapahoe Road interchange has closed the westbound lanes on Arapahoe Road.
Along with the full westbound closure, lanes are closed between Galena Street and I-25 on the east side of the highway and between Yosemite and Uinta streets on the west side of the highway. Ramps to and from Arapahoe to I-25 are also closed.
The closures are part of multi-million project to reconstruct the interchange and will remain in effect through 5:30 a.m. Monday.
