Commerce City landmark fights to survive amid rapid growth

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — There were 4,000 drive-in movie theaters in 1955, now only about 300 still stand - including the 88 Drive-In in Commerce City.

One of last of drive-in theaters in the country has been in the family for over 40 years. A triple-feature runs just $9 per person.

With the growth of surrounding cities, their land, and their family history are being threatened.
