HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. — American pride is very evident at Richard Mcfarlin's Highlands Ranch home. Why not? He is a veteran of the Air Force.
On Saturday, he turned 90 years old.
"When you think of the alternative, that's great,” he said.
It's great to have his wife of two years Maxine by his side. They started dating in 1951, but took a 67-year break before tying the knot.
The lawn showcases how happy his family is to have had him around this year. They're having a few more family members over and a special drive by from the fire department to celebrate.
But the only fireworks this year are cardboard cutouts.
“No fireworks. I've had enough of those in my lifetime anyways,” he said.
But a reason to celebrate milestone surrounded by loved ones.
“It is special,” he added.
