Open Roads event: CDOT reaches out to public

Posted

About 1,100 people took the opportunity to look under the hood of the Colorado Department of Transportation Saturday.

CDOT spokesman Bob Wilson says its Open Roads events at five sites around the state were especially popular with young children invited to paint snow plow blades. Their parents, meanwhile, asked about planned maintenance ahead of the summer construction season, express lanes and job opportunities. Highway patrol cars also were open for inspection.

CDOT held a smaller, similar event in 2008. Wilson says it is likely to be repeated.
