State Supreme Court hears arguments at East High

Posted

Some high school students in Denver will get firsthand experience in how the Colorado judicial system works Tuesday.

The Colorado Supreme Court will hear arguments in two cases in front of students at East High School.

The public also is invited to attend, although seating is limited.

The court will hear arguments in two actual cases. After the oral arguments, students can ask the attorneys and the justices questions.

The court generally issues opinions within a few months of the arguments.

All seven justices hear cases together. They are Chief Justice Nancy E. Rice and Justices Nathan B. Coats, Allison H. Eid, Monica M. Márquez, Brian D. Boatright, William W. Hood III and Richard L. Gabriel.

The proceedings were scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. in the auditorium.

East High School is located at 1600 City Park Esplanade.

Audio recordings from the two arguments will be available online within one to two days of the arguments at www.courts.state.co.us/Courts/Supreme_Court/Oral_Arguments/Index.cfm.
