COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Colorado Springs Police Department is shedding more light into the bizarre set of circumstances surrounding a missing Texas teen who was found safe Tuesday.
Police say 13-year-old Adalie Rivera hopped a coal train in Colorado Springs and wound up in Dumas, Texas, more than 300 miles away. She is from Lubbock, Texas.
Police say the teen arrived in Dumas covered in coal and hungry after running out of skittles. A local farmer found the girl and called authorities.
Adalie disappeared from a Colorado Springs hotel during a family trip Friday. She was reported missing and an alert went out that evening.
Police announced Tuesday she was located but didn't provide any details.
It's not known why she decided to leave.
