Colorado’s ski resorts are gearing up for another big weekend of snow.
Denver7 meteorologist Lisa Hidalgo forecasts five to 10 inches of new snowin the mountains over the next 48 hours. That accumulation is on top of the strong start to the season.
Through Friday morning, Breckenridge Resort has recorded the highest seasonal snowfall, with 110 inches of snow. The resort already has 37 percent of its terrain open with a 35-inch base depth, according to Ski Central’s report.
Denver7 reached out to both Vail and Winter Park resorts. Representatives at both said this season’s snow is significant. Vail has recorded 79 inches of snow so far this season. When you compare that to last season, it is quite the jump. Vail Resorts said it had just 76 inches of snow by Jan. 21, nearly two months later. Winter Park has had 65 inches of snow in November alone, which is nearly double its 10-year average of 38 inches of snow for November.
