DENVER – A new study is putting Colorado high on a list of DUI rankings.
The Centennial state ranked 21st among states with the worst DUI problems, according to a study by BackgroundChecks.org.
The company used a combination of CDC, Department of Transportation data, and local state data, to create a comprehensive score for each state.
It’s unclear how the state’s new get-tough DUI law factored in the survey, which was released Thursday. The law passed in 2015 and allows district attorneys to pursue felony cases, not just misdemeanors, against people accused of drunk driving.
Although Colorado ranked high in the survey, our neighbor to the north tops the list. Wyoming has the most problems with DUI and drunk driving.
The ten states with the least DUI Problems are: New York, Massachusetts, Illinois, New Jersey, Utah, Rhode Island, Virginia, Indiana, Washington, and Kansas.
