DENVER -- Business had been very good for pot shops.

New numbers released Monday show Colorado dispensaries sold more than $1 billion in marijuana in just the first 10 months of the year. That is a milestone for the industry.

The taxes collected from retail pot sales through October totaled $151.4 million.

Denver7 partner the Denver Post reports that 2016 pot tax totals could surpass taxes from 2014 and 2015 combined.

Last year, Colorado marijuana businesses sold more than $996 million in pot products.
