DENVER – The annual Low-Income Energy Assistance Program, or LEAP, has begun accepting applications.

Households who apply for the program and qualify will receive resources to stay warm and save money on heating costs. In addition, they can use their remaining cash to pay for other necessities during the winter months.

LEAP is available for qualifying households through April 30, 2019.

Both homeowners and renters with at least one legally present household member are eligible to apply for LEAP. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident, or be part of a household with a legal resident
  • Responsible for paying heating costs
  • Meet certain income limits (up to 165 percent of federal poverty level index)

LEAP applications may be requested by calling 1-866-432-8435, or by visiting the Colorado Department of Human Services website.
