FOUND: CBI issues alert for missing nursing facility resident last seen Saturday

UPDATE | April 20, 8:32 a.m. — The 71-year-old woman who went missing from a Denver nursing facility was found and is safe, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Denver police said a passerby spotted her near Colfax Avenue and Logan Street around 7:25 a.m. Wednesday. Police said she did not have any apparent injuries.


DENVER — An alert was issued Monday after a 71-year-old woman went missing from a Denver nursing facility Saturday morning.

According to the Amberwood Court Rehabilitation and Care Community, which is located at 4686 East Asbury Circle, staff discovered Chong Soon Yi went missing Saturday. She was last seen in the 1900 block of South Dexter Street in Denver around 9:15 a.m., according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

In a statement, Amberwood Court said Yi went outside to get some fresh air when she went missing. She often went outside of the building and is familiar with the surrounding area, according to Amberwood Court officials.

Yi has lived at Amberwood Court since 2017 and has no history of wandering or elopement, the facility said in the statement. She had been homeless before arriving at the facility, according to facility officials.

Yi is described as 5 feet 2 inches, 100 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue jacket, dark gray sweatpants, and did not have a purse. She suffers from dementia and schizoaffective disorder, according to Amberwood Court.

CBI said Yi is familiar with RTD and may have used it as transportation.

Facility policies and applicable facility regulations were followed at the time of Yi's disappearance, according to Amberwood Court.
