GRANBY, Colo. – A contractor has been arrested on a manslaughter charge after his employee died in a trench collapse in Granby last year, authorities announced this week.

Bryan D. Johnson's company, ContractOne, was working a job at a construction site on June 14, 2018, when a trench collapsed on top of the employee, Rosario Martinez-Lopez.

Granby police and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) investigated the incident and submitted their evidence to the 14th Judicial District Attorney's Office, which decided to charge Johnson.

“Worksite safety regulations exist for a reason, and here, we are reminded just how important it is to for employers to adhere to those regulations," District Attorney Matt Karzen said in a statement.

More information about the case against Johnson was not released.
