DENVER — The cold weather won't slow down the City of Denver's annual New Year's firework show.

Denver7 got a sneak peek as crews prepared for the big night.

"Blue crackling aerial fires in the sky, breaks up and of course, you have tentacles that crackle,” said Jim Burnett with Western Enterprises. "They fire succinctly, specifically and concisely the same fireworks throughout the show."

Crews have planned out the NYE show at two locations: above the Sheraton Hotel and the 16th Street Mall, where DJ’s lining the mall sync their music.

"It ebbs and flows as it goes throughout and then it always builds in a deep crescendo toward the finale," said Burnett.

The City of Denver and the Sheraton Hotel hosts the two-show event.

"The 9 o'clock show is perfect for families and the midnight is perfect for anyone that wants to come down and dance their way into 2019," said Allison Saer, with the Downtown Denver Partnership.
