Clothing company behind Hanging Lake photos showing photographer in water cited

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. -- A Brazilian-based clothing company is facing fines from the U.S. Forest Service after a photoshoot at Hanging Lake went viral.

The Post Independent reported Wednesday that the Forest Service cited Liquido Active, the clothing company that posted the now deleted photos. The citation carries a potential fine, but the exact amount is not known.

The photo, showing the photographer in the water and models on the lake’s log, created a stir on social media last week when it was posted on the company’s Instagram account. It has since been removed.

The Forest Service does not allow people to enter or swim in the lake or climb on the log to preserve the area’s delicate ecosystem. Signs posted around the lake convey this restriction.

Company officials issued an apology soon after they photos were removed.
