City's zoning board denies the neighborhood's appeal over zoning permit error, residents outragted

DENVER -- Representatives from the Humbolt Street Neighborhood Association still believe the developers that will build the apartments in the neighborhood found a loop hole to avoid building parking spots.

The city's zoning code doesn't require a builder to provide parking lots on a lot that is smaller than 6250 square feet. 

The association appealed the developer’s permit, which allows the building of two apartment buildings on adjacent lots that fit the no parking requirement.

The denial of the appeal has caused outrage among residents who say the building will cause a parking nightmare in their area.

But despite voicing their concerns during today’s appeal hearing before the Board of Adjustment for Zoning, four out of the five members voted against the appeal. The board stated they found no evidence suggesting an error was made when approving the permit.
