BLACK HAWK, Colo. — Las Vegas-style bets are coming to Colorado.

The City of Black Hawk announced Tuesday city council voted to approve unlimited single-bet wagers in addition to allowing casinos to offer new games.

These new rules go into effect May 1, 2021, and are part of the voter-approved Amendment 77 that authorized local control of gaming in Colorado.

In 1990, Colorado voters approved legalized limited-stakes gaming in the cities of Black Hawk, Central City, and Cripple Creek, capping wagers to $5 per bet at the time. In 2009, the maximum bet went up to $100 per bet.

With the passage of the ordinance, casinos in Black Hawk will be able to exceed the old cap and offer more games.
