DENVER – Our growing Colorado may feel like its busting at the seams. With the rapid growth, it is rare to find an empty lot when developers are building left and right, but that’s precisely what the city has on its hands.

Denver City Council is holding a public hearing on Monday to determine the future of a 40-acre plot of land on Fox Street with a rezoning application submission. Inside that acreage is 4400 Fox Street, the former Denver Post printing plant location.

If approved the land would open up for new planning and construction, up to 12 floors. The property is nearby the booming construction in River North and right down the street from the first stop on the G Line from Union Station to Arvada.

“I think it’s good for us because now we are getting more popular,” said Brianna Sanchez, Front Lead at U Lucky Dog, a business nearby the property under consideration. “But then the population is going to start getting more crowded, and the prices are going to start to increase on houses, so it might make it harder to live here than other states."

The rezoning is set for a public hearing before the city council on Monday. The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. and public comment will be accepted.
