Christmas decorations hit the shelves in local stores, when is too early to get in the spirit?

Posted

DENVER — Decorations for the holiday season are already in stores, but the day the masked kids go door-to-door demanding candy hasn’t even happened yet.

The Christmas creep is real. Retailers began stocking shelves of Christmas-related items well before Halloween.

But when is it too early to pull the trigger and gussy up the home with reindeer lawn ornaments and blinding blinking lights?

Christmas decorations typically show up around late November to early December. However, there are a few among us who can’t wait to get in the yuletide spirit and drag out the box of tangled lights from the attic even before the Halloween candy hits the clearance isle.

There is no rule or ordinance preventing a homeowner from pulling the trigger too early, but it might break an unspoken social rule, which carries the penalty of agitated neighbors.

Weigh in below on the Denver7 poll: When would you buy Christmas decorations off store shelves?
