Child struck and killed by driver who fled scene in Denver

DENVER – A young child was struck and killed by a driver fled the scene Thursday evening in Denver’s Westwood neighborhood.

Denver police said officers were at the scene of the crash at the intersection of S. Lowell Blvd. and Morrison Road just after 7 p.m. Thursday and said that the crash happened just after 6:30 p.m.

The police department said the child was under 10 years old and died as a result of their injuries and that the driver had fled the scene.

Denver police did not release the gender or specific age of the child.

Around 2:45 a.m. Friday, police said they had located the suspect and vehicle.

The department is asking anyone with information or who witnessed the crash to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP.
