PUEBLO, Colo. — A 6-year-old girl was kidnapped by her mother from South Park Elementary School Monday morning.
Zanilah Roze Baros was picked up by her mother, Chante Quintana, 25, at the school in an unknown vehicle, according to the Pueblo Police Department. Sgt. Franklyn Ortega with the Pueblo Police Department said Quintana does not have custody for the child, though he said he couldn't release the reasoning. The father of Baros has custody of her, he said.
At the time, Quintana was wearing a gray beanie with a red ball on top and a red stripe around the bottom, a black jacket, a white or gray short, blue jeans and brown boots.
Baros was wearing a black coat, turquoise shirt and gray pants.
Ortega said they started the investigation around 8:30 or 9 a.m. Monday. The mother went to the class to pick up the child. It wasn't determind until later that she does not have parental rights, he said.
