Have you wondered why all of the major road construction projects in the Denver metro area include toll lanes?

Have you questioned why I-70 in the mountains is still two lanes in each direction?

You can find out the answers to those questions and more during a series of town hall meetings hosted by Colorado Department of Transportation officials and transportation commissioners.

The public can ask questions, find out what's going on with transportation projects and learn about CDOT's funding challenges, according to Amara Rollinson, a CDOT spokesperson.

The first town hall is Wednesday night from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Lone Tree City Hall.

If you can't attend in person, there will be town telephone town hall meetings on Thursday.

The first, from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., is for residents of Jefferson, Broomfield, Clear Creek and Gilpin counties. The second telephone town hall, from 7-8 p.m., is for residents of Adams, Arapahoe, Denver and Douglas counties.

CDOT will call people at random to participate. However, you can call in by dialing 1-877-229-8493 and using PIN 112034.

CDOT will hold another town hall meeting on Monday, Oct. 15 at the CDOT headquarters at 2829 West Howard Place in Denver from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

CDOT says additional town hall meetings will be scheduled later in October.
