DENVER – A man seen on surveillance video using a cane to navigate his way around an RTD light rail station was moments away from crossing into the path of a passing train, but a quick-thinking passenger wasn’t going to the let that happen.

RTD shared surveillance video of the incident Tuesday. The video captures the moment a good Samaritan potentially saves the life of a man at the Peoria Station last Thursday around 3:15 p.m.

The video begins with the man with the cane heading toward a pedestrian-level walkway as a train approaches just out of view of the camera. Recognizing the embedding danger, another passenger leaps away from a group of commuters and grabs the man, pulling him to safety.

As the oncoming train passes by, the two men appear to exchange pleasantries and then go their separate ways, as if the events that just transpired were just part of a normal day. But the man whose life was possibly saved on the platform that day may feel differently.

The good Samaritan has not been identified, but someone who sees the video might hold the clue.
